ILC Hire

ILC Hire is an equipment hire service that specialises in the short-term hire of equipment for people with disabilities throughout the State. It aims:
· to provide an opportunity to trial equipment before purchase - to ensure that the users and carers needs are met, and that the equipment suits the environments in which it will be used.
·  to assist people whose rapidly changing needs make equipment purchase impractical.
· to meet short term needs such as post surgery.
· to allow people to continue on as normal whilst their own equipment is being repaired or delivered.

Hire Period

The initial hire period, for most types of equipment, is for any period up to four weeks. The hire period may be extended at the discretion of staff if the equipment concerned is not required by someone else, and there are no outstanding fees. ILC Hire reserves the right to recall equipment at the end of the contracted period.

Fees

Currently the fees range from $15.00 to $100.00 for four weeks hire with the minimum charge for any one hire being $15.00 – subject to review. Clients are encouraged to pick up their equipment but if this is not possible courier charges apply. Additional costs will be incurred if equipment is lost, or is damaged beyond normal wear and tear.

Referral

No referral is required. However, for some specific types of equipment the hire will require the support of a relevant health professional. Contact ILC Hire for more details.

Equipment

ILC Hire provides access to a broad range of equipment some of which is not available through other hire services.
Equipment examples include:
  • Bathroom – mobile baths, shower commodes, children’s potties and change trolleys
  • Manual Handling – mobile hoists, stand up hoists, slings and transfer aids
