The Independent Living Centre of WA (Inc) is privileged to have a highly functional and devoted team sitting on the Board of Management. All members meet regularly and are generous in their devotion and commitment to the organisation.

Mr Ralph Gore - Chairperson B.Bus, MBA, FAICD, FFIN, CPAHRI

Board Member - Ralph Gore

Ralph has been a member of the ILC board since 1999. He is currently a senior executive with Brightwater Care Group Inc, which provides a full range of care services to elderly and disabled people.

Prior to becoming involved in the Not For Profit sector he spent almost 30 years in the finance industry gaining valuable experience in Strategy Development, Financial Control, Corporate Governance and Executive Management. Ralph has considerable Board experience ranging from large superannuation funds to small development companies and has been the ILC chairperson since 2007.

david_gribble_small.jpgDavid's 26+ years in NGO management spans the disability, health, aged care and community sectors and includes senior executive roles with Guide Dogs WA, Alzheimer's Australia and Christian Blind Mission International. He is a member of the Australian Institute of Company Directors and the Australian Institute of Management.

David’s current role is Chief Executive Officer of the Constable Care Child Safety Foundation and he joined the ILC Board in 2005 and stepped into the role of Deputy Chairperson in 2010.

Mr Ron Back

Board Member - Ron Back

Ron is a self employed finance and management consultant, with a wide range of financial experience and a solid extensive knowledge gained from his background in Local and Commonwealth Government.

Ron has been a member of the ILC board since 1997 and held the position of Treasurer until the review of the constitution in 2004. Ron continues to provide financial expertise to the Finance committee.

Ms Rebecca Moore

B.Comm (UWA)

Board Member - Rebecca MooreRebecca is passionate about rural access and support and looks forward to the change and development of the ILC in the future. She has extensive experience working on Boards, Community Groups, Rotary, and is a Director of Public Libraries Australia.

Rebecca is employed by the City of Nedlands as Executive Manager Community Services prior to which she held the position of Manager of Community development and Libraries for the City of Joondalup. Rebecca has a Bachelor of Commerce degree from the University of Western Australia and is currently completing a Masters in Leadership and Management from Curtin University. Rebecca Joined the ILC board in 2007.

Professor Lorna Rosenwax PhD

PhD, MSc, PostgradDip (Health Sciences), B.AppSc(OT)

Board Member - Lorna RosenwaxProfessor Lorna Rosenwax, currently holds the position Head of School of Occupational Therapy and Social Work at Curtin University of Technology. Prior to this appointment Lorna was the Sub Dean (Health Sciences) in the Faculty of Medicine, Dentistry and Health Sciences at The University of Western Australia.

Lorna has more than 25 years experience in public health and occupational therapy primarily within the higher education sector but also in State government acute hospital settings and not-for-profit organisations. Among her recent awards are the prestigious Jan Watt Prize for Excellence in Public Health Field Research as well as the Pioneers Award from the Australian Association of Occupational Therapists (WA). Lorna's current research efforts are focussed on the last year of life and palliative care.

Lorna joined the ILC Board as a member in 2008 and brings considerable research strength along with business acumen and strategic management experience.

Ms Lynette Meyer

Board Member - Lynette Myer

Lynette moved from Human Resources into risk management 15 years ago and now specializes in health, safety and environment management systems.

Lynette was employed by CCI (Chamber of Commerce & Industry WA) as an advisor through the '90s and had the opportunity to consult to a number of member organizations in the health, retail, mining, construction and energy sectors. Prior to joining her current employer Chevron, Lynette held the position of Health, Safety and Environment Manager for the Royal Automobile Association of WA. Lynette has an ongoing interest in policy development and is a member of CCI's Occupational Safety and Health and Workers' Compensation Committee.

Lynette holds postgraduate qualifications in Business and Business Law and joined the ILC Board as a member in 2008.

Ms Robyn O'Callaghan

Robyn is a CPA qualified senior finance executive with over 20 years experience attained in commerce and public practice. She has spent 8 years working in the property sector including the development of retirement villages. Robyn brings with her prior experience in strategic management, corporate governance, risk management, compliance, and commercial management.

Robyn has previous experience with community based organizations including Rotary and holds a Grad Dip in Management, and joined the board and finance committee in mid 2008.

Denise Sullivan

Denise has worked over 15 years in the field of public health in senior government and non-government positions having oversight of the development of state-wide legislation, policy and programs on cancer and tobacco, and participating in campaigning and expert working groups established to progress state, national and international policy on the prevention of chronic diseases.

Denise is currently Director Chronic Disease Prevention with the WA Department of Health and prior to joining the Department in 2010 she was Tobacco Programs Director with the Cancer Council WA.  In addition to her work with the Department of Health, Denise is an Adjunct Senior Research Fellow with the Centre for Behavioural Research in Cancer Control at Curtin University of Technology and a doctoral candidate with the University of WA’s School of Population Health. 

Denise represents the Department of Health on the Intergovernmental Working Group established to oversee the implementation of the National Partnership Agreement on Preventive Health and is a member of the State Government’s Physical Activity Taskforce.

Denise was appointed to the ILC Board in September 2009, and brings expertise in communications, behavioural research, advocacy and strategic planning and policy development.

Melissa Bramley

BA (Public Relations), MPRIA

Melissa Bramley joined the ILC board of management in June 2011. Melissa brings  more then 20 year’s experience in communications, senior management roles in PR, marketing and the media. Melissa has provided high-level advice and communication strategies for senior management of many private, public and non-profit companies.  She is the Director of Bold Public Relations and previously worked for 12 years for Professional Public Relations,Perth’s largest communications consultancy. Melissa has broad experience in the health and the government sectors and several of her government relations campaigns have successfully changed legislation and provided substantial benefits to the WA community.

Melissa has developed and implemented communications programs for a broad range of clients, including Carlton and United Breweries, Western Australian Health Department, City of Nedlands, Department of Education, Decmil, Emirates, Enjo, Evans and Tate Wines, Forrest Chase, Chevron, HBF, Jones Lang LaSalle, Johnnie Walker Classic Golf Tournaments, LandCorp,Metropolitan Health Service, MG Kailis, former Minister for Health, McDonald’s, Murdoch University, Niola Hospital, Peet and Co, Premier and Cabinet, Peters and Browns, Sail and Anchor Pub Brewery, St John of God Healthcare, and the Western Australian Tourism Commission.      Melissa has a Bachelor of Arts degree in Public Relations and is a Member of the Public Relations Institute of Australia.

Jim Ellis

OAM B.Sc, FACS HLM, FAICD, MBCS, C. Eng

Jim Ellis worked in the information technology industry for over 45 years, employed by a number of multinational computer suppliers in England, Eastern Europe and South East Asia before moving to Perth in 1981.  In Perth he worked for international and local organisations before founding his own company in 1997, Westinfo Services, which represented Gartner, the world’s largest technology advisory organisation, in Western Australia and Northern Territory  until March 2006. Westinfo Services was also a major reseller of the Thomson NETg (now Skillsoft) range of on-line training courses.                Jim currently has a position on a number of advisory boards of ICT companies and he                                    became a member of the ILC Board in June 2011.

Jim is a Fellow and Honorary Life Member of the Australian Computer Society (ACS), and is currently one of the three Vice Presidents of the Society.  In his role of ACS Vice President, Jim looks after the ACS Women and Young IT and Community Engagement Boards.  He is also Chair of the WA Chapter of the ACS Foundation, which has raised more than $1.5 million in scholarships to tertiary students in Western Australia. 

Jim is also a Fellow of the AICD (the Australian Institute of Company Directors), a Member of the British Computer Society, and a Chartered Engineer of the Engineering Council (UK).  Jim was appointed an Adjunct Professor at Murdoch University in June 2006, and awarded the Medal of the Order of Australia for services to the ICT industry in the Queen’s Birthday Honours List in June 2008. He has a B.Sc. in Mathematics and Statistics from St Andrews University, Scotland.
