Consumer Directed Respite Care

The National Respite for Carers Program (NRCP) has provided a new opportunity to trial consumer directed respite care with ILC Commonwealth Respite and Carelink Centre (CRCC).

Service Description

The ILC CRCC has been given 16 Consumer Directed Respite Care (CDRC) packages, with a focus on consumer choice. Family carers can decide who, where, when and what respite care will meet their individual needs.

CRCC will aim to provide information on flexible and creative respite care options, support carers to establish a respite plan, assist with facilitating respite services and provide carers with regular financial statements

Selection Criteria

Carers assessed as eligible for NRCP.  Carers demonstrating an interest and ability to participate in developing an individualised respite care plan and able to direct the centre on where to spend their respite funds.  Carers who would benefit from greater flexibility and choice in respite care options.

Who Can we Help? (Eligibility)

Carers of frail older people (over 65 yrs & 50 yrs ATSI) and carers of people with dementia.
