ILC OT Driver Assessment Brochure
The ILC Occupational Therapy (OT) Driver Assessment Service provides comprehensive assessment and rehabilitation services for people with disabilities or medical conditions. Assessments are conducted by accredited Driver Trained Occupational Therapists and include a vision screen, clinical off road assessment and practical on road driving assessment. The on road driving assessment is done with a driving instructor experienced in rehabilitation.
Occupational Therapy Driver Assessment is different to a Department of Transport (DoT) licensing test. It focuses on the impact of a person’s disability or medical condition on commencing or returning to driving. The assessment is conducted in a supportive environment and aims to ensure that people are safe and able to drive, where possible.

How to refer
Private Clients
A doctor or health professional needs to complete the referral form. Please note fees apply for this service. However, the ILC through the Disability Equipment Grants (DEG) program manages a subsidy for people with disabilities. If eligible the subsidy will significantly reduce the cost. Details of the subsidy are attached to the referral form or

Corporations/Insurance/Rehabilitation Providers Clients
The ILC provides comprehensive Occupational Therapy (OT) Driver Assessment and rehabilitation services for corporate, insurance and rehabilitation provider clients
Services include assessment for:
Fitness to drive – private and heavy classes
Vehicle modifications including modified driving controls
Heavy vehicle requirements - may include associated work tasks.
Impact of injury /chronic pain conditions, including ergonomic evaluation
Assessment for workplace plant equipment
Driver rehabilitation
