ILC Tech
Service description
ILC Tech delivers information and training on assistive learning technology, environmental controls, specialised computer access, and augmentative and alternative communication equipment for people of all ages.
The ILC Tech team consists of Occupational Therapists and Speech Pathologists. Consultation can be done by phone, by email, by appointment in person or by videoconference. The purpose of ILC Tech is to assist people in being aware of the range of technology options that are available with suitable features to meet their needs. Using the ILC Tech service enhances the users knowledge and confidence in selecting their best technology options.

The range of equipment available for demonstration and trial include:
• Alternative keyboards (large and small) and key guards

• Low-tech communication options, such as communication books and boards

Who we can help (eligibility)?
This service is for all people who have a disability or learning difficulty, older persons, carers and service providers.
Appointments are essential and service users need to be aware that there may be a waiting period for some appointments.
Fees
For people who are eligible under criteria set down by funding bodies this service is free. However, there will be a fee charged for education sessions and workshops provided to organisations. Further information can be provided by ILC Tech staff.
Funding
Funding for this service area is supported by the Disability Services Commission (DSC).
Workshop and Training Offered
ILC Tech can offer a range of workshops to schools and other organisations, including:
- Assistive Technology in the classroom
-Communication Aids and Technology
- Using Visual Supports
- Training for Carers working with people with complex communication needs
- Aided Language Stimulation
- Literacy Support Tools
- Boardmaker Family Software
- Software specific training (e.g. Proloquo2Go, Dynavox, Clicker)
-Special Education Apps for iPod/ iPad
