ILC Videoconferencing
Service Description
A videoconference is a set of interactive telecommunication technologies, which allow two or more locations to interact via two-way video and audio transmissions simultaneously. This is done by connecting locations via ISDN lines or via IP on the Department of Health (WA) network, this allows a transmission of audio and video images to be received and viewed on a computer monitor or TV screen.
Videoconferencing allows the ILC to provide workshops, training sessions and clinical consults to clients and communities in remote and regional locations as it allows for real-time exchange of information and communication between two or more sites.
How and where we can help
The benefits of videoconferencing allows the Independent Living Centre WA (ILC) to offer education, workshops and consultations from most of our service areas.
Areas covered are;
1. Clinical consultations
Clinical consultations can be arranged for a person with a disability or issue affecting their ability to function in everyday life. Family, carers, Health Professionals, GP’s, advocates, and persons involved in the care or service provision of the recipient can be included in consultations.
Client specific consultations are conducted between a Health Professional at the ILC with clients at rural or remote sites. The consultations provide information about using equipment, and provide targeted advice and solutions for equipment-related issues for people with specific disabilities. Conducting consultations can occur in a number of ways, the client can be in Nedlands with the Health Professional or family linked in from remote site. Other options include the Health Professional located in Nedlands with the client at a remote site. Videoconferencing sessions are tailored to meet client needs. The service can also be used with ILC Country Services to plan equipment for country trips. This process must be conducted through the local health provider or hospital; a booking will need to be made with your local health provider and the Independent Living Centre.
Please contact the ILC Health Professionals through the enquiry line to discuss details or any questions you may have.
