Young Carers

Service description

The Young Carers Respite and Information Service provides support for young carers, under the age of 25, who are at risk of not completing their secondary education or vocational equivalent, whilst caring for a parent, relative, sibling or friend.

This program aims to help young carers better manage and balance their education and caring responsibilities.

Service Coverage

The program supports young carers by providing assistance to access flexible and individualised respite services that aim to help young carers balance their caring responsibilities with their education.
The Young Carers program may be able to assist with;

  • Recreational activities such as music lessons or sporting activities to help young carers to have some time out
  • Help in the home with cleaning, meals, laundry and shopping to assist young carers to manage their caring responsibilities.
