Visit to the Great Southern Region November 2017

Hi, I’m Katie Sala-Tenna, one of the Speech Pathologists at the ILC WA and I had the pleasure of exploring the Great Southern region.

This was my first trip to regional WA with the ILC. Although only going for three days I managed to pack double the permitted baggage allowance. Who knew assistive technology was so heavy?!

My name is Evana, I have worked for the ILC for over 10 years and aside from one mini trip to Bunbury, I’ve yet to experience the greatness of a country trip. This trip had a few hiccups before we left, but once we hit the road, it all went brilliantly.

Visiting Bunbury, Busselton, Margaret River, Augusta, Boyup Brook, Donnybrook, Balingup and Collie; she provided an opportunity for people to view and trial a range of assistive equipment including advising how easy it is for people to contact the ILC from the regions including by phone, email and skype.

My name is Alison and I work as an Occupational Therapist in the Assistive Equipment Services (AES) team at the Independent Living Centre WA (ILC). I cover the Goldfields Region of Western Australia where I travel to towns such as Kalgoorlie, Esperance and Coolgardie to name just a few.

Our country services ensure that people who live and work outside the metropolitan area have the opportunity to talk to an Occupational Therapist about equipment that could support them to continue to live independently as well as to trial some of this equipment.

Spring is a brilliant time to visit the Midwest region of Western Australia and I was lucky enough to do just that as part of ILC’s Country Services.

Hi, my name is Rachel; I’m the Occupational Therapist at the ILC who covers the Midwest region, from Exmouth in the north to Leeman in the south and Meekathara in the east. This involves travelling to various towns throughout the year, providing services to guide people’s choices regarding assistive technology and services for independence and wellbeing.
